We're Building! PDF Print E-mail

Live Oak Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Goleta, California is building a new Sanctuary. In December 2006 we completed the construction of the new bathrooms.

This is a rendering of what our new 200-seat sanctuary will look like:

In our current sanctuary we have a sitting capacity of just over 100 people -- exactly the number in attendance each week. Long ago, we realized that these limitations make worship uncomfortable at times, or even unwelcoming. Our vision is of a worship space that will be large enough to truly welcome all, and have enough empty seats for future friends. The existing building will be converted into religious education space so that our children and youth also have a space to flourish and grow.

On Saturday, March 29th 2008, we held a groundbreaking ceremony to both express our joy in moving toward construction, and to mourn the loss of our glorious hillside orchard.

Stay tuned for photos of our groundbreaking...
