A message from the Chair, Anna Sorensen

For me, feeding my spiritual self means (in part) taking responsibility for changing myself and the world around me in positive ways.  It means trying to reduce my carbon footprint and feeding those who have less to eat than I.  It means educating myself about the different ways that people are oppressed and standing up for those people – demanding equal rights and opportunity for all.  From talking to many of you and witnessing your care and concern for a variety of different issues, I believe that the same truth holds for many of you also.  And thus, I find it an absolute joyful task to, as the Chairperson of your Social Concerns Committee, work toward the development of programs that support your current social justice work and to find new avenues through which our congregation can contribute to positive change in our world.

I want to extend a personal invitation to each of you to our Social Concerns meetings.  I would very much like to have you join us and share your social justice concerns with us.  Many hands make light work – and there is much heavy work to be done.  Refreshments will be served and childcare is available.  If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please contact Anna Sorensen. We look forward to hearing from and seeing you!
