YRUU/Youth Group PDF Print E-mail

A lively youth group meets on Sunday evenings in the Cottage. The schedule is flexible to include social justice projects and fieldtrips. If you have a young person of high school age who would be interested in attending, please let James Forrest, our Director of Religious Education, or our minister, Rev. Erika Hewitt, know and they will have one of the Advisors of this Group get in touch with you and your child(ren).

Our teens recently compiled this "Top Ten" list of reasons that Live Oak's Youth Group is so great:

  1. Going to the all-you-can-eat buffet at China City -- nothing says "tradition" like endless chow mein.
  2. Putting together our annual youth worship service (always a congregational favorite)
  3. Observing the group's growth of afro's -- people's hair just seems to expand in YRUU!
  4. Hanging out with our super-cool leaders (sometimes on Mike's boat)
  5. Playing such highly intellectual games as "Bunny Bunny" and "Duck, Duck, Goose"
  6. Crazy unsupervised Sunday nights (please note: this statement has not been endorsed by Live Oak's minister, Director of Religious Education, or adult volunteers!)
  7. Going on fun trips like ice-skating and de Benneville Pines
  8. Having pool parties
  9. Group bonding
  10. Getting amazing free food at every meeting (provided by parents)
