Song Tree will present The
Cache Valley Drifters. In one form or another, these local neo-folk heroes
have been playing their unique brand of high-powered “newgrass” and tightly
arranged treatments of popular and traditional music since 1972. “The
Drifters” are easily identified by their driving rhythm, beautifully textured
ballads, unique acoustic arrangements, and signature vocal harmonies.
They have been performing their music together for 35 years and were the
original back-up band for the legendary folk artist Kate Wolf. They play
a wide range of material from folk to bluegrass, acoustic renditions of rock
tunes and originals. There’s an element of jazz mixed in there as
well. You can play samples of The Cache Valley Drifters’ music by
clicking here.
Admission to the concert is $15, and kids
under 16 are free.
Song Tree’s snazzy web site is www.SongTree.org. There is complete
ticket-buying information on the web site, and descriptions of upcoming
concerts.
Song Tree also needs light-duty
volunteers, and we need sponsors. If you would like to help, we’d love to
have you. Questions? Contact Tom Lee at 964-8878 or Jeri Moulder at
966-6461.
